OneSkin

About the start-up

OneSkin is a longevity company committed to extending the healthy years of life and helping people age at their best. Our team of researchers and entrepreneurs is fascinated with science and living life to the fullest.

OneSkin is the first company to grow human skin tissues in vitro that undergo the aging process. We have also identified biomarkers that can be accessed for measuring the success of a given intervention, and we have validated a new molecule selected by our screening platform, confirming their ability to reverse/prevent aging. This molecule reduces 25-50% of the aged cells (senescent cells) in the testing models. Our solution was designed to perform the whole discovery and validation processes of novel age reversal molecules and accelerate their translation to the clinic. OneSkin brought to the market the first the first product in the skincare market with a senotherapeutical approach, and it’s exploiting its application to other conditions.

Position/Project summary

OneSkin is looking for a Bioengineer to join our R&D team. We are exploring new therapeutic applications for our lead molecule. We are looking for an intern to help with the optimization and validation of a 3D wound healing model and/or other disorders related to fibrosis.

The research scientist will be responsible for cell culture and growing 3D wound healing models. The candidate will perform in vitro assays to evaluate cell migration after exposing the wounds to different compounds. Optimization of the wound size and time-point of analysis will be done. Next, the intern will test the potential of different compounds to promote wound healing by measuring cell migration, morphology changes, and gene expression.

The intern will also help with lab organization and documentation.

The findings from this project will help guide OneSkin next therapeutic application for their proprietary compounds.

Required skills/ Qualifications

  • It is expected that the intern function well within a team setting, be able to complete tasks on time, and communicate well with company management.

  • Laboratory Skills: Mammalian cell culture, microscope imaging, RNA isolation, qPCR.

Preferred qualifications:

3D tissue culture (ideally but not required), and bioinformatics experience (preferred but not required).
