About the start-up

TheNotCompany (NotCo) is a foodtech that utilizes Machine Learning and AI to formulate sustainable plant-based products. Our internal AI Platform, Giuseppe, helps our scientists and formulators develop better products at a fraction of the time. Utilizing Giuseppe, our formulators have created NotMilk, NotBurger, NotChicken, NotMayo and other sustainable products.

Our AI Team is comprised of Machine Learning Engineers, Software Engineers, Designers, and Product Managers that work in unison to build, deploy, and manage the Giuseppe Platform. We work very closely with a team of analytical scientists, culinary experts, and food scientists to ideate, create, and test the platform.

The Opportunity

NotCo is looking to screen and identify metabolites and other small molecules in novel and biodiverse plant-based materials. We will build internal scientific capabilities (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) to screen such molecules in materials. We will subsequently utilize our internal machine learning models, including Graph Neural Networks, to predict properties of screened molecules for health or nutritional benefits. The results of this AI-enabled investigation will be surfaced to our partner suppliers to inform them of new plant-based materials to source and process to bring into the supply-chain.

This project is part of the “AI Discovery” track within NotCo, where we aim to investigate new/novel plant-based ingredients with value added properties.

Primary responsibilities

The candidate will work with NotCo Machine Learning team to create a predictive machine learning model based on molecule structure properties. Once the model is developed, the candidate will work closely with NotCo Nutritional & Analytics team to verify performance of the model.

If the model is deemed to perform well, the candidate will also be responsible for deploying the model in our production Giuseppe Platform.

About you

Looking for a computer science/data science focused candidate that is interested in building recommendation systems and predictive models on scientific data. Experience with Graph Neural Networks is a plus
